How much does a website cost in the Netherlands? (2026 guide)

Planning a new website for your business? One of the first questions we hear at Lekker Creative is: how much does a website cost in the Netherlands? The honest answer is “it depends”, which isn’t very helpful on its own. So in this guide we break down typical website prices in 2026, what drives the cost up or down, and how to get the most out of your budget.

Typical website prices in the Netherlands in 2026

Prices vary a lot between freelancers, small studios and large agencies. These are rough ranges you’ll commonly come across for a professionally built website, excluding 21% BTW:

  • One-page website: roughly €500 to €1,500. Ideal for a new business, a single service or a campaign.
  • Small business website (5 to 10 pages): roughly €1,500 to €5,000. Think home, services, about, portfolio, blog and contact.
  • Web shop: roughly €3,000 to €10,000 or more, depending on the number of products, payment options like iDEAL and links to your stock or accounting software.
  • Custom web app: usually from around €5,000, for things like booking systems, customer portals and dashboards.

DIY website builders look cheaper at first, but monthly subscription fees, limited SEO options and the hours you spend building it yourself add up quickly.

What determines the cost of a website?

1. The number of pages and features

Every extra page, form, filter or integration adds design and development time. A clear list of what your website really needs is the quickest way to an accurate quote.

2. Custom design or a template

A template is quicker and cheaper, but your website will look like many others. A custom design is built around your brand and your customers, which helps you stand out and usually converts better.

3. Content: text, photos and video

Content is often the part that delays a project. If you’d rather not write it yourself, professional website copywriting saves you time and gives you text that is written for both visitors and Google.

4. SEO from the start

A beautiful website nobody can find won’t bring in customers. Good page titles, fast loading, mobile-friendly layouts and a clear structure should be part of the build. We cover this in our SEO service.

5. Integrations and extras

Online bookings, iDEAL payments, newsletters, multiple languages or a link with your CRM all add to the price, but can also save you a lot of time every week.

Ongoing costs to keep in mind

  • Domain name: a .nl domain usually costs a few euros to around €20 per year.
  • Hosting: most small business websites run well on hosting of roughly €5 to €30 per month.
  • Maintenance: updates, backups and security checks keep your site safe and fast.
  • Licences: some premium plugins or fonts have a yearly fee.

WordPress website or custom web app?

For most small businesses a WordPress website is the best choice: it’s affordable, flexible and you can update it yourself. If you need your own tool, such as a booking system or customer portal, a custom web app built with Angular and Firebase may be the better fit.

How to get more out of your website budget

  • Know your goal. More enquiries, more bookings or more sales? Your goal decides which pages and features matter.
  • Prepare your content early. Logo, photos and key information ready at the start keeps the project on schedule.
  • Start small and grow. Launch with the essentials and add pages or features once the site is bringing in results.
  • Don’t skip mobile and SEO. Most visitors will see your site on a phone, and most will find it through Google.
  • Choose a partner you can reach. Quick help when something needs changing is worth a lot.
